Last night, Bean showed me an anime called Black Butler, or Kuroshitsuji. (Kuro = black, shitsuji = butler.) She wanted me to see something in the fourth episode, so I had to watch the first three so I would understand what was happening. We then watched episodes five and six, as episode four started a three-part thingy. Here's a brief explanation of what the show is about so far:
Twelve-year-old Ciel is the head of the Phantomhive family. His parents are dead - they died in a fire about three years ago. The Phantomhive family owns a toy-making empire in Victorian England, and so young Ciel is rich beyond belief. He has a butler, Sebastian, who is pretty much the ultimate butler. Not only is he perfect at all of his jobs, he is excellent at cleaning up the messes that the other four servants make - broken dishes (the maid), bad food (the cook), a destroyed garden (the gardener). (The fourth servant just chills with his tea. I wanna squeeze him! x3 Little old people are so cute...) This is what is normal, and what you would know if you just watched the daily goings-on at the Phantomhive mansion. However, here's what you probably wouldn't notice: Sebastian is actually a demon, bound to Ciel. Until Ciel has achieved his goal (sorry kids, I dunno what it is yet!), Sebastian must protect and serve him. Why? Well, when Ciel was ten - a little after the fire that destroyed his family and his home - he sold his soul to Sebastian. Now for some pictures of the Phantomhive people!
The servants - cook, maid, gardener, and cute old guy
Sebastian - the perfect servant
One hell of a butler
Ciel, the master of the household
The boy and his butler
There is a REASON for that eyepatch, yes...
... and this is why Sebastian wears gloves.
If Bean tries to get you to watch this with her, I recommend you just go with the flow. I had my doubts at first, too, but this is extremely good. Who do you think is my favorite character?
I'm gonna guess you're favourite is Sebastian, though I think that Ciel looks pretty cool.
